How our storage works
We offer short and long term storage, usually with a minimum period of one week, charged weekly against the space your items use. It is often booked alongside a move, and storage only arrangements are available too. For more on how it works, see our Storage Services page.
Pack for the long term
Use sturdy boxes that will not collapse when stacked. Disassemble large furniture where you can, and protect it with breathable covers such as cotton sheets or padded blankets. Avoid sealing soft items such as upholstery or clothing in plastic for months, because it traps damp.
Clean and dry everything
Clean furniture and appliances before they go in, and let them dry completely. Moisture left behind leads to mould and mildew. Mattresses and upholstery should be clean. Fully dry appliances before storage.
Leave room for air
Do not overcrowd boxes or furniture. Air needs to move around items, and keeping furniture up off the floor helps protect it from damp. After a long period in storage, let furniture air out for a day or two before using it.
What not to store
Do not store:
Flammable liquids, chemicals, paints, solvents, fuel or anything similar
Food and other perishables
Anything liable to leak
Plants or animals
Ask us if you are unsure about a particular item.
Keep a simple inventory
A list of what is in which box makes retrieval quicker and helps if you need to find one item. Label boxes clearly on more than one side.
Keep items you may need accessible
Tell us at loading if there is anything you expect to want back first, and we will make a note of it.
