Arrival window and start time
We operate a 30 minute arrival window, agreed and communicated in advance, usually from 8am unless arranged otherwise.
Your team
Your team will arrive in uniform and ready to start, with a shift supervisor responsible for coordination and communication on site. The shift supervisor is your point of contact throughout the day.
What to tell the team when they arrive
Before they begin, walk the team through the property. Point out:
Anything fragile or valuable
Anything that is not moving
Access quirks, such as a sticking door or a tight stairwell
It helps to be there for the first part of the day to answer questions.
Before they arrive
Have beds stripped, freezers defrosted and appliances disconnected, unless you have arranged for us to do it.
Clear pathways to the doors and through the house.
Keep your essentials box, keys, documents and valuables with you, not on the van.
Make sure parking is sorted, and keep your own parking arranged if you are driving to the new property.
Children and pets
Arrange somewhere safe for children and pets, away from the doors and out from underfoot. A busy moving day is stressful for them, and it keeps everyone safe.
Where things go at the new property
When the van arrives at the new address, the team will walk through with you. Tell the supervisor where you would like items placed. Keep a floor plan or a simple note to hand if the layout is complicated, and sticking labels or notes on doors helps boxes land in the right room first time.
Meter readings and keys
Take photos of your gas, electricity and water meters at both properties, and make sure you know how the keys for the new home will reach you. Agree this with your solicitor or agent before moving day.
Stay reachable
Keep your phone charged and switched on all day. If a question comes up, your shift supervisor needs to be able to reach you quickly.
