For most moves we recommend a survey first, because a quote based on a guess is where surprises come from.
We prefer in person surveys, and also accept video surveys and walkthrough videos you record.
Our surveys are free, and you get a clear written quotation.
We always explain any additional charge before it is applied.
What we look at
A survey lets us see what is moving and how it will get out. We assess:
Volume, room by room
Access at both ends, including stairs, lifts and where the van can park
What needs packing, and who is doing it
Anything that needs specialist handling, such as a piano or safe, or anything fragile or valuable
What needs protecting in the property
In person where we can
We prefer in person surveys wherever practical. It means we can look at access, volume and protection requirements properly, and you meet someone from the team before moving day. If schedules are tight, we also accept a video survey or a walkthrough video recorded by you.
It is free
Our surveys do not cost you anything, and the result is a clear written quotation.
Why it matters on the day
The survey is where the day is planned. It tells us how many people and what equipment to bring, how much time to allow and what materials to use. It also means that what we do on the day matches what we quoted.
Fewer surprises
Your quote is based on what we know in advance. Extra charges can arise from things such as additional items that were not in the survey, or access that was not mentioned. A good survey is the best way to avoid them, and we always explain any additional charge before it is applied.
Tip: Show us everything, including the loft, garage and shed, and tell us about anything awkward.
How to get the most from it
Show us everything, including the loft, garage and shed, and tell us about anything awkward. Our post on what happens at a removals survey explains what to expect.
